Cuppa´ Love

Just a layout I made for fun. No colorscheme, no materials, numbers or subject. Just a photo and a bunch of Prima paper that I got from Sandra who is more into art journalling now.
Used 4 collections: Strwaberry kisses (front&dots), Coquette (pink background), Flirty little secret (photomat) and Flights of Fancy (butterflies). Other materials: Pink Paislee thickers, All kinds of flowers, Camee from Xenos and molds that Marjolijn sent to me, I colored them with perfect pearls.

Catch the Wind

I was just an hour too late to enter the june layout sketch challenge at Our Vintage Affair!
The gorgeous sketch inspired me to make this layout of Jacky. Photo was taken on te beach and I played with photoshop to make the pencildrawinglook and picnik.com to create the blue edge.
Papers are Bo Bunny, Gabriella Collection; title is made with Basic Grey alphabetstickers.

Fashionista´s

I made this layout for a personal challenge that Marjolijn gave me at the Scrapfever forum. It had to be a monochromatic layout, in green…. I love green so that was no problem for me !!
The title Fashionista´s does not match the Photo that well, but I liked it better then hairdressers or something like that…

The papers I used are Basic Grey Wisteria Greenhouse and a scrap of Graphic 45 Fashionista.
The edges are colored with both distress inks shabby shutters and peeled paint
Flowers (Prima Tea Rose, hydrangeas) stars and swirls are spraye with Glimmer Mist meadow green and olive vine. After drying I put some crackle accents on the swirls.
I have had the metal charms in my stash for years, don´t know what brand that is.

P.S. the Melissa Frances frame is green also, only that does not show on the photo...

trifold ATC Pride & Prejudice

Made this ATC for a trifold ATC swap at Scrapfever. Was quite difficult to fill the space, it´s three times the size of a normal one!
I found a great picture of an old book, printed this and embossed it with an alligator pattern. After that I heat embossed it with clear embossingpowder to give it a leatherlook.
Inside you´ll find two pages from the book. I found these through Dover Publications,  free pictures of booksamples every week :)
This is what it looks like from above.

And here´s a template that I made, the red and blue lines are folding lines (red upward and blue downward) and the black ones are cutting lines.

Thanks for looking!!!

Flowers

I found some amazing flower tutorials at several blogs. I loved playing with it it was great inspiration and each of them was really fun to make!
I hope you will visit these talented ladies and leave some love on their blogs!! When you click on the links it will bring you straight to their tutorials!

This one is made after to Sylvia´s pleated flower tutorial . I will have to get different masking tape and redo it,  caus´this one has a plastic layer so the ink won´t dry. But it looks nice, don´t you think?

This one is a combination of both Paulien´s babywiped corine collection tutorial and Lisa´s lily flower tutorial  using puffy paint. I am satisfied with the way the petals turned out, but not too much with the flower itself, will need to work on my cutting skills :) :)

And finally, Wendela´s tutorial with currogated cardboard. I used a Prima flower in the center instead of beads. And colored it with glimmermist wild currant and creme the rouge.

Keepsakes Fynn

I made another keepsakes box on request of a friend. It´s a gift for her sister. Luckily I had this awesom three bugs in a rug 'animal stackers' papers because they match the giraffe card perfectly.
The bamboo teabox is  beautiful by itself so I did not overdecorate it.

Inside there are little boxes for babies´ teeth, lock of hair, first socks etc.

I love the teaboxes by legends of tea and I have a few of them to decorate. But it is more fun to make them myself so I divided one and used it as a template.

It closes with a fragment made out of shrinkfoil. You can see my tutorial for making Tim Holtz like fragments here

Weeping

A new challenge at These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things! You can submit until June 30, please make me a happy girl and play along :):)

This is my fave piece of art, called Weeping. It was made by Dutch artist Jose Botterhuis for an exhibition in Hummelo, a yearly event `kunstwandelroute`. A great mixture of art and nature!
The three crying eyes are watching the deforestation of our planet and was inspired by the Weeping Woman in Tofino, Canada.
The paper is an oldie by Kaisercraft, Jade´s Garden. I used a diecut paper to cut the outline, then wetted the edges with water to curl them up. I am not certain if the background sheet is from Kaisercraft as wel, but the colors match perfectly!
The flowers are plain brown Prima Flowers which I edged with TH cinnamom stickles. I found the small animals in a very old childrens book. Scanned, printed on thick paper en heat embossed them with clear powder.

The chippie is a Buzz and Bloom florish which I heat embossed using this technique using different colors and types of embossingpowders. It is in Dutch but the photo´s speak for itself.

The title is the original title of this artwork. I made it with cork squares which I handpunched, inked and completed with alphabet stickers.

Nostalgic mini album in box

This is a nostalgic album which I made for my mother. She and her friend from have known each other for 60 years. Her friend originally comes from Vienna and as a child she participated in a sort of exchange programme in the early 50´s. She stayed with family of my mother and since they were about the same age, the adults thought it would be fun if the girls would meet. They were friends right from the start and ever since...
I have used echo park "For the Record" papers and a bit of Cosmo Cricket circa 1934. The two combine perfectly!! Originally the box was packing material which I decorated with dessinpapers and a representing nostalgic Dutch landscape.
In the summers when she was in Holland, they used to go rowing and picknicking and singing.... The fence is made with icelolly sticks and wooden coffee sticks as well as the roadsign. The plastic cows and the grass are me and my brothers old toys that we used to play with.

The lid of the box closes with magnets.
Here are some of the pages; I cut them 9x30 cms and scored at 17 cms. Folded this to create pockets. Inside ther are journalling cards, my mother will complete these with her memories.

Since I combine many different patterns, I decided to hold back on decorations and embellishments. I only used some crystal swirls which I cut in tiny peaces and flower, branche and butterfly punches. So the focus will remain on the photo´s.

These are some pics from typical Zaandam buildings and surroundings.

Tutorial coloring with embossing powders

Although I am feeling much better, i´m still recovering from my surgery and haven´t been scrapping that much yet.

But I do have something to share with you, a tutorial that I made for Dutch onlineshop Scrapfever.
You will find it on the Scrapfever weblog.
It was made by me already a couple of months ago since many of you had been asking me how I colored the bird cages and branches. It took a little while before it could be posted on the blog but tadaa now I can show it :)

The tutorial itself consists of three parts:
1. how to make a metal looking bird cage from a die cut using embossing powders and
2. how to color small parts like branches or other diecuts using the embossing pen and different colors
 3. a wooden embellie colored with different distress embossing powder and finished up with crackle paint.

Enjoy!
